History of the Selfie

What is a selfie?   A selfie is a photograph that one has taken of oneself using a camera.   Although the term is fairly new, the concept is fairly old.   At this point in history, the camera has been around for thousands of years.   In order to discover the first selfie, we need to look at the camera and when it was invented.   THE FIRST CAMERA A Chinese philosopher, Mo-Ti, who lived between 470 B.C.E. to 390 B.C.E., is credited with the invention of the first camera ; what we know as the pinhole camera.   A pinhole camera was a dark room or dark box with a hole on one side which would allow light into the dark box.   The light would project an image on the opposite side of the box where the image was captured.   The smaller the hole, the sharper the image.   If light was too little, the image would be too dark and little detail.   If the light was too much, the image was too light and blurry.   Fifty years after its crea...

Modern humans are not accustomed to searching for entertainment. Usually we have countless options. During the lockdown, many of the places we would normally go for entertainment are also in lockdown. The limited sources of entertainment that we do have access to has been having issues keeping up with demand. The internet is slow and video hubs like YouTube and Netflix are overwhelmed. What is socialization? There are two definitions that are representative of individuals, society, and interactive behaviors. The first is the activity of mixing socially with others . The second is the process of learning to behave in a way that is acceptable to society . These definitions are kind of the same thing. So, let’s look at some different ways in which socialization occurs. It can occur at home, in school, at the workplace, within religion, gender roles, and culture. Let’s be clear, this is to name a few. These are the most common and are the major ones that most individuals experience at some point or throughout their lifetime.

What is Culture?

What is culture? There are a few basic definitions of culture and all are similar to each other in meaning. The definitions are the arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively; the customs, arts, social institutions, and achievements of a particular nation, people, or other social group; and the attitudes and behavior characteristic of a particular social group. Let’s look at some of the things that are used to define culture.

What are the Physical Characteristics of Humans?

What are physical characteristics and how do we define them? Physical characteristics are defining traits or features about the body according to yourdictionary.com. They can be defined as the things that you first notice about a person when you look at them. Examples would be hair, eyes, skin, nose, and body, to name a few. In essence, how you would describe one person to another. Note that how a person can be described is not limited to the options in this article, the goal here is to show what physical characteristics are and how we can use them to paint a picture of someone in a book or story, during an investigation, or just to explain what someone else looks like.

What is Race?

There are several definitions of race among four separate categories according to Google Dictionary. The categories are Social, Biological, Literary, and Archaic definitions.   SOCIAL DEFINITIONS  There are four definitions in the social category. Let’s take them one at a time. The first definition, and the broadest is, each of the major categories of humankind, having distinct physical characteristics . In response to this definition, I would want to know how many categories of humankind there are? How many distinct characteristics there are and what is counted as a distinct characteristic? Also, what would happen if a person had more than half of the distinct characteristics necessary to claim a race but not all? Doesn’t that mean that they likely have fewer for other races and so cannot claim any other race either?
